How A Battery Energy Storage System Works

BESS has the ability to store and dispatch energy on demand and addresses many of the challenges associated with modern power grids and renewable energy integration.

Charging Process

 During periods of low electricity prices or excess power generation (e.g., from solar or wind), the BESS stores energy by charging the batteries. Electrical energy is converted into chemical energy.

Discharging Process

During periods of high electricity prices or increased demand, the BESS discharges energy. The stored chemical energy is converted back into electrical energy, which is then supplied to the grid or used by on-site loads.

Energy Management

The EMS (Energy Management System) optimizes battery charging and discharging based on factors like electricity prices, grid demand, and renewable energy availability to maximize economic benefits.
